Clinical Training and Assessment

We provide free training for nurse-midwives in critical skills like neonatal resuscitation, post-partum hemorrhage techniques and the assessment of newborns. Our curriculum is based on the widely accepted Helping Babies Survive and Helping Mothers Survive protocols from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Our baseline assessments in areas like neonatal resuscitation and post partum treatment range between 35-60 % - clearly unacceptable for these critical skills. We are now achieving > 85-90% proficiency (or greater) in these and other critical skill areas.

PROCESS
  • Prepare baseline Clinical Assessments in each area
  • Provide Clinical Training (Helping Babies Breathe, Essential Care for Every Baby, Essential Care for Small Babies, Post Partum Hemorrhage Treatment, Diagnosis and Treatment for Eclampsia and Pre-eclampsia)
  • Prepare Post Training Assessments after each module to identify remaining skills / Standard Operating Procedure gaps
  • Retrain / Reassess / Repeat
